Gympie is just 24km from Standown Park and offers excellent services and retail shopping. Coles, Woolworths, IGA and Aldi are all in Gympie and we like to support our local businesses as well. Standown Park gets all our meat from McIntosh Meats which also offer a delivery service.

Gympie Town Centre Growers Market is the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of every month. The Memorial Park in Gympie Town Centre, is filled with local growers and producers selling their harvest direct to the public. Freshly picked fruit and vegetables, seafood, smallgoods, preserves, sweet treats and much more are on display for you to taste, experience, create and enjoy from 7am to 1pm.

The Gympie Gold Mining & Historical Museum showcases how the discovery of gold in Gympie saved the Queensland Government from going bankrupt back in 1867. There is an amazing array of historical items on display with many varied and interesting ones on machinery, technology, household items, war section and vehicles. It is a great place to spend the day, is well set out and all displays have very clear wording and easy for the children to read. There are a few original buildings which have been relocated there and you can try your hand at gold panning.

The Woodworks Museum and Interpretive Centre shows the Forestry Story through live demonstration, science-based education and state-of-the-art interpretation. You will also see a broad range of interpretive displays on the region’s forest industry, from its historical roots through to modern-day machinery and forest management techniques. Gain a better understanding of the region’s unique forest ecosystems and the role they play in the landscape and the carbon cycle.
