Mary Valley
The picturesque Mary Valley and neighbouring areas are a beautiful drive. The rolling hills and national parks, historical trails and hidden treasures along the way make it a perfect day trip from Standown Park. The National Parks offer a diverse range of activities such as hiking, canoeing, four-wheel driving and horse riding. The quaint little towns of Imbil, Kandanga and Amamoor make up the Mary Valley.
Tin Can Bay
Tin Can Bay is just 24kms down the road from Standown Park (opposite direction to Gympie) where the water is calm and is an ideal spot for the tinny, fishing and picnicking.
Tin Can Bay is a great source of fresh sea food and has the Country Club golf course, Bowls club and Yacht club. It has all the essential services while still retaining the quiet village image. You can take a relaxing cruise on the bay with Dolphin Ferry Cruises and enjoy some of the beautiful sunsets over the water.
Dolphin Feeding – Tin Can Bay
A morning stop in Tin Can Bay wouldn’t be complete without a stop in to see thee dolphins. The Indio Pacific Humpback dolphins come into the boat ramp most mornings where you can go into the water and feed them from 8am. While there, you could shout yourself breakfast or a coffee at any of the cafes in the Bay.
Rainbow Beach
Rainbow Beach is the ‘Gateway to Fraser Island’ and is known for it’s kilometres of unspoilt, white sandy beaches and rolling surf. In the past couple of years, Rainbow Beach has increased its lifestyle pace and facilities however the untapped beauty of the coloured sands and white beaches as you take a 4WD trip along the beach to Double Island Point is absolutely perfect.
And, of course, fishing from the beach remains one of the primary activities of visitors and locals alike
Fraser Island
During your stay with us why not visit Fraser Island the largest sand island in the world and World Heritage Listed. Fraser Island’s World Heritage listing ranks it with Australia’s Uluru, Kakadu and the Great Barrier Reef.
Fraser Island stretches over 123 kilometres in length and 22 kilometres at its widest point. It is home to the spectacular Lake McKenzie plus a diverse array of native plants, animals and water creatures. I

Only 13km from Standown Park and worth a visit.
Gympie
Gympie is just 24km from Standown Park and offers excellent services and retail shopping.
Gympie Town Centre Growers Market is the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of every month which sees the Memorial Park in the Town Centre, is filled with local growers and producers selling their harvest direct to the public.
The Gympie Gold Mining & Historical Museum is also a great stop off – showcasing how the discovery of gold in Gympie saved the Queensland Government from going bankrupt back in 1867.
Explore Pine Forests
Our park is surrounded by vast plantations of tranquil pine forest with miles of tracks and trails ready to explore.
Dirt bikes and 4×4’s are often seen exploring the rougher tracks, but many tracks are accessible for exploring by normal car.
